This time last year we had just published our first recipe book Secrets from Yiayia’s Greek Kitchen and were getting ready to launch the food side of our business.
If someone had told us then just how much our lives were about to change I’m not sure we would have believed them but changed they have! Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support us at our book launch, bought a copy of the book, shared it, and wrote fantastic reviews for us on Amazon, websites and social media.
We launched the food side of our business in May at the Dulwich Festival Fair. Since then we have had stalls at New Malden Farmers’ Market, Wimbledon Village Fair, Dulwich Park Fair and Thames Ditton Farmers’ Market selling our own range of homemade Greek dips as well as Yiayia Vasso’s popular spanakopita and baklava.
It has all been a bit of a whirlwind and we could not have done any of it without you.
Our houmous, tzatziki and taramosalata were so well received that within our first month of trading, we started to receive enquiries from store owners all over the country wanting to stock our dips. We even had a meeting with a small supermarket chain who wanted to order our entire range! As exciting as this sounds, we are not quite at the stage where we can produce and distribute our dips to that volume in our tiny home kitchens. This will, however, definitely be a key focus area for us this year. We are thrilled that our houmous continues to be available at General Store, Bellenden Road, London SE15 (while stocks last!).
With that, we decided to mark our 1-year anniversary in business with a brand revamp! We are still going to use all of Vasso’s recipes – and will continue to make our dips with as much love as always – but we do look a bit different and think our new name reflects just how much we have grown as a business this past year.
What do you think?
